Apple's iPhone sales kick off from Beijing to Berlin

Sales of Apple's new iPhone models - the 5s and 5c - began in earnest Friday around the world.

Although Apple has yet to release any early numbers on what demand for orders looks like at this stage, the delivery dates for some models in the U.S. - ordered through Apple's U.S. website - are already starting to be pushed back to October.

The iPhone 5s and 5c go on sale Friday in the U.S., U.K., China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Last year, Apple sold 5 million units of its flagship iPhone 5 during the first weekend of its launch and Apple stores in the U.S. mostly sold out by midday Saturday.
