It had to happen sooner or later: The first professional pornographic video starring Google Glass.
The video, starring porn actors James Deen and Andy San Dimas, was produced by MiKandi, the company that launched the short-lived Google Glass porn app Tits & Glass. Not surprisingly, Google wasn't too happy with this. According to MiKandi, Google "quietly" changed the terms of service for the device, banning "Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material."
But this ban doesn't prevent anyone from using Google Glass in a porn video.
MiKandi released a NSFW trailer on Tuesday. While the trailer is definitely racy, it's far from crude. The actors crack jokes about Glass ("Hey, I really like your Glass") and play around with its various features. At one point, Deen notices San Dimas' shoes, proceeds to find them online using Glass, proclaiming she overpaid for them.
Glass isn't just a throwaway prop in this XXX video; rather, it's a sophisticated, wearable device, capable of both video playback and recording. Once it becomes more affordable to the general public, it could be a useful tool for recording so-called "gonzo" pornography, a style that requires a first-person view and minimal editing. After all, wearing Google Glass is certainly easier than carrying around a camera: It's voice-operated and lightweight.
However, many argue that due to a variety of factors, including price, privacy issues and appearance, Google Glass will never go totally mainstream.
The fact is, Glass isn't just a new product - it's a new class of product, and thus might move forward in unforeseen directions. We're fairly certain Google doesn't want the device to become a tool for recording pornography, but not even the mighty Internet giant can stop people from using it at will. After all, as the meme goes, "if something exists, there is porn of it."
